Surround Sound Dolby Digital 5.1
I'm thinking about buying a widescreen tv with virtual surround sound (the sound from behind without the actual speakers right?) "virtual" surround sound is an attempt at emulating real 5.1 sound. It actually tends to spread out the sound from left to right. There is no way to magically make the sound come from

It used to be only stereo or Dolby surround but SSX tricky on the PS2 is DTS which is nice. I think XBOX games have the most 5.1 titles on the market (not sure since I haven't bought an XBOX yet). While gaming surround is getting better, DVD movies provide the most amazing sound experience followed by a kick ass PC

It shows me that there is surround sound as an option. I do not even need it. The other guy did. He apparently saw that option in the same window otherwise he would have asked his question in a different way. Nonetheless, if I am not mistaken, you advised him to check if his sound card supported 5.1. Why?

Surround Sound (5.1 specs)
The salesman was really pushing DTS 5.1 sound. Come to find out, the surround system and DVD player are both without the chip for 5.1, We got a great deal(I think), a 600 watt system (5 speakers and a 10" sub) with a DVD player for 800 bucks. My questions are, is it worth it to pay the extra to upgrade to the

using these expanders when you have a surround sound system distort the sound so you're not getting the full benefit of the experience? Which one should I use? It encodes the sound to Dolby Digital 5.1 format, and sends the bitstream to your reciever which then decodes it and sends it to your speakers. You will need a separate receiver to take advantage of the feature. ps. I thought Colony Wars supported Dolby 5.1, or was that just the videos? It's Dolby Surround (3
